Provides production and/or technical support essential in the design, development, manufacturing, and system integration/optimization of Sun's products. Under minimal supervision performs routine and complex process operations in the fabrication of wafers, modules or tape/head assemblies. Visually inspects product and/or operate electronic devices to measure process performance and ensure specification compliance Interprets system data against control specification for pass/fail disposition, lot serial tracking, material handling and equipment status Performs equipment set-up, calibrates runs on equipment and monitors system operating conditions to ensure optimal process performance Supports the team environment and business execution through various and frequent business and operational communication methods including email, input at team meetings, engineering product meetings, yield improvement meetings and day-to-day pass downs to off shift engineering and operations personnel Identifies and communicates improper equipment operations, faulty equipment, defective material or product, and unsafe conditions and/or practices Works in a collaborative approach with peers and managers to initiate problem identification and solution efforts on process improvement. Senior levels will participate and/or lead Improvement Team projects Senior levels will assist training in the certification process of new or lower level employees. In addition senior level specialists will be asked to perform leadership roles such as coordinator duties or supervisor back-up duties Achieves and maintains process certifications on a minimum of 3 systems / processes in the clean room and / or assigned work area. Senior level specialists may be required to certify on as many as 6 or more systems / processes Adheres to all elements of the quality standards as defined by the ISO 9000 & ISO 14000 industry standard for the manufacture of magnetic recording head devices Performs basic mathematical calculations for functional process requirements such as: process operating parameters, statistical process control and yield assessments Assists engineering by performing system qualification testing, processing measurement standards for qualification and / or calibration of equipment and measurements for chemical bath testing and qualification.
Requires extensive specialized skills and comprehensive knowledge of products and related processes required in the manufacture or testing of a specific line of products.
Applies skills and knowledge to assist in resolving problems.
May interface with third party vendors as well as engineers on matters related to work processes and/or requirements.
