Job Description:

The National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency (NGA) New Campus East (NCE) Active IT Program was established to provide the infrastructure services required to build out and maintain the NCE facilities. A senior Storage Area Network (SAN) engineer is needed to support NCE activities.

The Senior SAN Engineer will: Develop Storage Architecture for NGA-NCE. Develop and implement Detailed Storage Design for NGA-NCE. Present architecture and implementation plans to Engineering Review Board for approval. Perform integration proof of concept testing as required. Work with NCE ActiveIT IPTs to ensure 'other' services are made available on time to meet SRD requirements. Communicate architecture and integration plan to internal (other IPTs) and external (NGA IPTs) customers in a clear manner. Execute implementation plans; ensure system capabilities are made available to NCE on time. Provide weekly status reports to Storage IPT Lead.

Required Skills:

EMC Certification Required Experience designing and implementing SAN solutions in an enterprise environment including high availability systems. Experience in several different forms of replication including Celera replication, SRDF and Centera replication. Broad and deep engineering-level understanding of EMC Clariion and DMX arrays, Cisco and Brocade switches, and associated software. Ability to work under pressure and hit deadlines. Technical documentation skills. Working experience in SAN administration. Able to plan, design, implement and maintain: Brocade Director Fiber Channel Transport Networks. EMC Storage (block and file level). EMC Control Center. Working experience with: NetApps Filers/Storage Systems, SVC (dynamic allocation of storage), Network Attached Storage (NAS), Replication Technologies .

Desired Skills:

Solaris 8 and 10, HP-UX, Linux and Wintel. Perl and Shell scripting. Host-based volume management tools. MCSE Certification. Server Virtualization Technologies (VMWare). Legato Experience. Deep understanding of popular clustering solutions such as Veritas, and Microsoft Cluster Server products, along with working knowledge of database and Middleware such as Oracle, Sybase, and WebLogic, is a big plus. Practical experience on DR planning, RAID, data migration, and business continuity techniques, is highly desirable. Familiarity with Volume Logix, NaviSphere, PowerPath, Work Load Analyzer, Optimizer, Solutions Enabler, SRDF/TimeFinder, SnapView, BCVs.

Required Education (including Major):

BS in a technical field with 6+ years of experience. May substitute educational requirements with additional years of experience.
