Engineering position where the primary objective is to perform engineering design and development activities resulting in innovative Sun products for customers, leveraging new technology and advancing Sun\'s competitive advantage in the marketplace.
Activities encompass physical design and analysis, of large, complex, high speed microprocessor components. Technical disciplines include synthesis, floor planning, Place and Route, RC extraction, timing and power optimization.
A thorough knowledge of state of the Art EDA tools is essential and detailed knowledge of deep sub-micro transistor and interconnect effects is a must.
Works independently on design, analysis and debugging as well as working with RTL function designers to better optimize the design components.
Has a detailed knowledge of Microprocessor physical design techniques including High Speed logic optimization/synthesis, Power optimization and design verification.
Is able to problem solve physical design issues and communicate, clear and precise design changes to colleagues.
Demonstrates strong technical knowledge and expertise and capability to apply this to highly complex, multi-faceted engineering assignments within a specific discipline or area.
Interact in a professional and highly technical manor with colleagues - both locally and across sites (within the USA).
Useful tool experience: Synopsys/Astro/ICC/StarRC/Calibre - scripting ability is a plus.
