Assistant Buyer (Retail / Jewellery), Leicester

Position: Assistant Buyer
Location: Leicester, Leicestershire

COMPANY:
Our client is the UK’s biggest luxury jewellers and have been trading for over 200 years.

ROLE:
Reporting to the Buyer, they are now looking to recruit an Assistant Buyer to support and assist their line Manager with sourcing and developing product to maximise sales, margins, profit and stock plans for the assigned departments in line with the agreed Company strategy.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
a) Assist the Merchandising team in the preparation of range and assortment plans in line with business strategies.
b) Assist line Manager with planning of Sales, campaigns and promotions, in line with company marketing strategy.
c) Analysis of performance and product trends to build on success’s to drive appropriate product development.
d) Ensures that all products meet the required quality specifications in line with the fascia and the QA dept.
e) Analysis of market information and competition
f) Negotiate costs and terms to support margin requirements, drive profit, whilst remaining commercially priced within the market place.
g) Manage stock through its lifecycle, planning robust exit strategies to support effective and profitable clearance of stock performing below required sales targets.
h) Maintain trend awareness though Supplier meetings, factory and fair visits.
i) Assists with and review relevant data analysis for the department e.g. average selling price information, intake margin.

KNOWLEDGE/EXPERIENCE:
a) Previous experience of buying/procurement within a retail environment.
b) IT Skills, Excel, word,
c) Excellent communication skills
d) Self motivated

Desirable but not essential:
a) Experience of BW and SAP
