Accounting Manager / Controller
Thriving, local company with national span is currently seeking a professional candidate with extensive accounting background and experience. The organization is nationally recognized for providing safe student email, along with other 21st Century Tools such as blogging tools, message boards, digital lockers and virtual drives. In addition, they also offer a budget-friendly email archiving solution for Exchange, GroupWise, Google Apps and other mail systems. The solution is hosted on the companys servers and requires no hardware or software to be installed on a district level. The companys archiving service offers sophisticated search features, redundant storage systems, built-in disaster recovery tools, and much more.
The Accounting Manager is responsible for overseeing and performing all accounting and financial reporting duties as well as administrative human resource duties for the organization. The individual reports directly to Vice President of Operations.
Responsibilities: Facilitate and review the completion of monthly financial statements including balance sheet, income statement and cash flow statement as well as budget to actual comparisonsEnter and/or review and oversee the completion of journal entries including, but not limited to cash, receivables, payables and revenue and expense accrual entries; Review bills for accuracy and proper authorizationJournalize new activities and transactions in accordance with GAAPReconcile all general ledger accounts, monthly receipts and all other accountsPerform and/or review monthly bank statement reconciliationsPrepare miscellaneous month end reports as needed for sales, operations and the executive management teamProvide guidance in establishing pricing for products and servicesConfirm wire transfers as neededReview commission payout schedulesPrepare payroll taxes for employees in 5 states, W-2s and 1099sWork closely with CPA to complete business income tax returnsPrepare budgets and comparisons of actual performance against budgetParticipate in meetings with bankers as needed to guide treasury management strategy for excess operating fundsParticipate in property/casualty insurance renewals, risk management and processing losses/claims as needed in conjunction with the companys AgentPerform payroll semi-monthly payroll duties, monthly expense reimbursements and contractor paymentsAct as office manager on duty as neededAdminister Simple IRA plan, Flex 125 plan, health plan, optional dental plan, workers compensation and other employee benefits plans as neededOther duties as assigned
Requirements:B.A./B.S. in Accounting or Finance, CPA preferred 3-5 years of experience as controller or similar position, technology industry experience a plusProficiency in QuickBooks Pro or similar accounting software and Excel/MS OfficeExperience in preparing budgets and financial statementsStrong interpersonal skillsStrong organizational skillsStrong communication skills, both written and oralAbility to interact productively with other departmentsBackground in technology and/or education preferred
